D-D Breaux
D-D Breaux (Sara “D-D” Breaux) is an American former gymnastics coach who led the LSU Tigers women's gymnastics team from 1978 to 2020. Born January 19, 1953, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, she is an LSU alumna and is often called the Dean of Coaches at LSU.
As LSU head coach, Breaux posted an 800-410-8 record (.660) and guided LSU to 35 NCAA Championship appearances, including a Final Four finish and seven top-six finishes in the Super Six. Her teams won 18 NCAA Regional titles (16 at LSU) and SEC championships, with Regular Season titles in 2017 and 2018 and Meet titles in 1981 and 2017–2019.
Breaux earned many honors: National Gymnastics Coach of the Year (2014, 2017); SEC Coach of the Year nine times; NCAA Central Regional Coach of the Year eight times. She coached 13 individual national champions and earned 239 All-America honors and 85 All-SEC honors by 2018. She was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Region 8 Hall of Fame (2009) and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (2017).
She retired in August 2020 but remained connected to LSU’s Athletics Department. As a gymnast, she was nationally ranked and a Junior Olympic National Champion; she competed for Southeastern Louisiana University and later worked there as an assistant coach after a career-ending knee injury. Breaux has two children and four grandchildren.
