Walter Fisch
Walter Fisch (16 February 1910 – 21 December 1966) was a German politician and member of the Communist Party (KPD). He was born in Heidelberg and became active in left-wing and workers’ movements during the Weimar Republic. When the Nazis came to power, Fisch and other KPD members faced repression and many had to work underground.
After World War II, Fisch helped rebuild the Communist Party in West Germany. He served in the German Bundestag from 1949 to 1953, representing the KPD. In parliament, he pushed for socialist policies and opposed West Germany’s NATO alignment in the early Cold War years.
Fisch remained committed to his beliefs until his death in 1966 at the age of 56.
