Wakefield Township, Stearns County, Minnesota
Wakefield Township is a rural area in Stearns County, Minnesota, United States. It covers about 32.4 square miles, with 30.0 square miles of land and 2.5 square miles of water. The elevation is around 1,165 feet. The population was 2,756 at the 2010 census. The township includes the cities of Cold Spring and Richmond.
History: The area was first organized in 1858 as Springfield Township. It was renamed Wakefield Township in 1870 in honor of Samuel Wakefield, a county official.
Geography: Wakefield Township sits in Township 123 North, Range 30 West of the 5th Principal Meridian.
Demographics: In 2000, about 3,100 people lived there in 1,046 households, with most residents identifying as White. The median household income was roughly $56,000, and the per capita income was about $21,000.
