"Love (Can Make You Happy)" is a 1969 song by Mercy, written by Jack Sigler, Jr. It was released as a single on Sundi Records and later on an album of the same name. The song reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, kept from the top spot by The Beatles’ Get Back. It also peaked at number 2 on Billboard’s Easy Listening chart, and climbed to number 2 in Canada on RPM 100 and number 1 on RPM’s Adult Contemporary chart. Billboard ranked it 42nd on its year-end list of the Top Hot 100 songs of 1969.

While the single rose up the charts, lead singer Sigler faced the possibility of being drafted into military service. Sundi quickly released the album Love Can Make You Happy, which included the song along with other cover tracks not recorded by Mercy originally. Sigler ultimately was not drafted and later signed with Warner Bros. Records, where Mercy recorded a sound-alike version and released the album Love Can Make You Happy under Warner Bros. The Sundi label was sued, and the original album was banned from distribution. The Sundi recording was produced by Mike Apsey and Ron Resler, while the Warner Bros. version was produced by Brad Shapiro and Steve Alaimo.
