Magneuris Sierra
Magneuris Sierra is a Dominican baseball outfielder who bats and throws left-handed. He was born on April 7, 1996, in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic. He currently plays for the Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League. He previously played in Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, Miami Marlins, and Los Angeles Angels.
Career highlights:
- Signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an international free agent in 2012. He impressed in the minors, and in 2014 he was named the Cardinals Minor League Player of the Year after hitting .386 with a .939 OPS. Before 2016, Baseball America ranked him the sixth-best prospect in the Cardinals system.
- 2016: Played for the Peoria Chiefs, hitting .307 with 3 homers, 60 RBIs and 31 steals.
- Made his major league debut on May 7, 2017, with the Cardinals. He started in center field and got his first big league hit off R. A. Dickey. After a strong early showing, he spent time in the minors but was recalled later that season.
- December 14, 2017: Traded to the Miami Marlins (along with Sandy Alcántara, Zac Gallen and Daniel Castano) for Marcell Ozuna.
- 2018–2021: Spent time with the Marlins and had stints in the minors. He contributed as a speed player, but his major league batting average was .190 that year, and his MLB career through 2022 sits at a .228 average with 0 home runs and 30 RBIs.
- Notable 2022 moments with the Angels: He reached a few dramatic late-game situations, including a walk-off bunt single on September 6, 2022, which was his first career walk-off hit. He also had other walk-off-related moments during that season.
- November 2021: Outrighted off the Angels' 40-man roster and became a free agent after the season.
- 2022–2023: Signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves in 2023 and played for their Triple-A team, Gwinnett.
- 2024: Began the year in the Atlantic League with the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars, where he hit .333 in 16 games. On May 14, 2024, his contract was purchased by the Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League.
- 2024 with Monclova: Batted .321 with a .361 on-base and .468 slugging, adding 5 home runs, 27 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 61 games.
- 2025 with Monclova: Returned for a second season, hitting .348/.395/.403 with 1 home run, 29 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 71 games.
