Volga Volga (1928 film)
Volga Volga (German: Wolga Wolga) is a 1928 German silent drama film directed by Viktor Tourjansky, who also wrote the screenplay. It stars Hans Adalbert Schlettow, Lillian Hall-Davis, Boris de Fast, and Rudolf Klein-Rogge. The movie was produced by Joseph N. Ermolieff together with Ottmar Ostermayr and Peter Ostermayr for Peter Ostermayr-Filmproduktion. It is one of several Russian-themed films made in Munich during the 1920s by the exiled producer.
Filming took place at Staaken Studios in Berlin for interiors and on location in Wolin, with sets designed by Andrej Andrejew, Max Heilbronner and Erich Zander. Cinematography was by Akos Farkas and Franz Planer. The film is silent with German intertitles. It was released in Germany on 15 November 1928. In 1933, it was distributed in the United States by Kinematrade Inc. with dubbed English narration and dialogue written by Alexander Bakshy.
