Vivian Wong Shir Yee
Vivian Wong Shir Yee (born 27 March 1989) is a Malaysian politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Sandakan since May 2019. She is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), part of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, and since March 2025 she has served as the Assistant National Political Education Director of DAP.
Wong is the daughter of the late Stephen Wong Tien Fatt, who was Sandakan MP and Sabah’s State Minister of Health and Wellbeing. She grew up in Sandakan, Sabah, and studied at INTI College Subang Jaya (Diploma in Communication and Media, 2010), Murdoch University (Bachelor’s in Public Relations, 2013), and the University of Malaya (Diploma in Early Childhood Education, 2018). She works as a financial adviser in Kuala Lumpur and teaches at the International Korean School of Malaysia in Cyberjaya; she also volunteers for welfare projects in Indonesia, Cambodia and other countries.
Wong joined DAP in 2012 and previously worked as a special assistant to her father. She won the Sandakan seat in the 2019 by-election after her father’s death, defeating Linda Tsen Thau Lin and others with a majority of 11,521 votes. She was re-elected in 2022 with a majority of 11,031. In 2025 she married Lu King Chiew.
