Virgibacillus halophilus
Virgibacillus halophilus is a Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium that forms round spores and thrives in salty environments. It belongs to the genus Virgibacillus and was isolated from field soil in Kakegawa, Japan. Taxonomy: Domain Bacteria; Phylum Bacillota; Class Bacilli; Order Bacillales; Family Bacillaceae; Genus Virgibacillus; Species V. halophilus. The binomial name is Virgibacillus halophilus, described by An et al. in 2007. Type strains include 5B133E, 5B73C, IAM 15308, JCM 21758, and KCTC 13935.
