Villaines-sous-Bois is a small town in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region of northern France. It covers about 11.89 square kilometers and has a population of 778 people (2023). The population density is around 412 people per square kilometer. The town’s mayor for 2020–2026 is Patrice Robin, and a new town hall opened in 2012.

Villaines-sous-Bois has its own train station, Villaines, with connections to Luzarches, Sarcelles, and Paris, making travel easy to nearby towns and the capital.

The area has an oceanic climate. The average annual temperature is about 11.4°C, and rainfall averages around 710 mm per year. December is the wettest month. August is usually the warmest month (about 19.2°C), and January the coldest (about 4.0°C). The highest temperature on record is 41.6°C (25 July 2019), and the coldest is −13.5°C (1 January 1997).
