Scenic Hill Tunnel
Scenic Hill Tunnel (觀景山隧道) is a road tunnel on the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge route in Scenic Hill, Chek Lap Kok, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Its west exit is near the Ngong Ping 360 Airport Island Angle Station and a fuel storage centre. The tunnel runs through Scenic Hill, along Airport Road, under the MTR Airport Express line, and through new reclamation areas, linking Hong Kong’s road network with the bridge port. Planning began in 2011, construction started on 31 May 2012, and it cost about HK$88.8 billion. The contractor was China State Construction Engineering. Scenic Hill Tunnel opened on 24 October 2018, together with the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge. It is the only tunnel in Hong Kong where drivers drive on the right and it is the widest in Hong Kong with seven lanes (three eastbound and four westbound). The tunnel itself is toll-free; tolls for the bridge cover the trip. The tunnel is about 1.1 kilometres long and has a speed limit of 80 km/h. It is owned by the Hong Kong Government.
