Vicki Noble, born in 1947, is an American feminist shamanic healer, writer, and teacher. She grew up in Iowa and moved to Berkeley, California in 1976. In the 1970s she helped create and teach Colorado College’s first women’s interdisciplinary studies program. Noble has worked with archaeologist Marija Gimbutas and has lectured and taught about female shamanism and healing around the world. She has written several books, developed a ritual healing method, and led women on pilgrimages to sacred Goddess sites in many countries. Noble has held a part‑time Scholar in Residence position in the Women’s Spirituality graduate program at New College of California and also teaches at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Her recent research includes work in Russia with archaeologist Jeannine Davis-Kimball. She co-authored the Motherpeace Tarot with Karen Vogel and wrote Shakti Woman. Noble published four issues of Snakepower magazine in 1990–1991, which was nominated for Utne Reader’s Best First Publication; the last two issues were collected into the anthology Uncoiling the Snake (HarperSF, 1994).
