Leaf lorikeet
Leaf lorikeet, also known as the Flores lorikeet or Weber's lorikeet, is a small green parrot found only on the Indonesian island of Flores. It used to be treated as a subspecies of the rainbow lorikeet, but since 1997 it is usually considered a separate species, Trichoglossus weberi.
The leaf lorikeet is about 23 cm (9 inches) long, making it the smallest member of the rainbow lorikeet group. Its plumage is mainly green, with a paler lime-green chest and collar, unlike other rainbow lorikeets.
It lives along the edges of primary and secondary forests, woodlands, and plantations up to about 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) in altitude. It remains fairly common, but because its range is small, there is concern for the future. The population is believed to be decreasing, with fewer than 20,000 mature individuals remaining in the wild. The conservation status is Near Threatened.
