Vice President of the Republic of Nicaragua

The vice president is the second-highest political position in Nicaragua. As of 2025, the constitution allows co-presidents to appoint multiple vice presidents. The office is currently vacant since 18 February 2025. The term length is five years and renewable. The position is established by the Constitution of Nicaragua, and the office was formed on 15 September 1893. The first holder was General Anastasio J. Ortiz Argeñal. The salary is US$3,100 per month.

History and notes:
- Before this office, Nicaragua had a Deputy Head of State, mentioned in the 1826 constitution and removed in 1838.
- In the past, if the presidency became vacant, a replacement could be chosen to fill the gap.
- The vice presidency has existed at four different times.
- In 1923, a vice president helped replace a president.
- From 1987 until 2025, vice presidents were elected on the same ticket as the president.
- The 2025 constitution allows the co-presidents to appoint multiple vice presidents.
