Industrias AlEn is a Mexican chemical company based in Monterrey. It makes household cleaning products under brands like Cloralen, Pinol, Pinalen, Flash, and Ensueño, among others. The company has a US and Caribbean sales office in Houston. In 2013, Clorox filed a trademark infringement case against AlEn with the U.S. International Trade Commission, saying AlEn’s Cloralex and Pinol closely imitate Clorox and Pine-Sol. AlEn countered with a lawsuit claiming a 1995 coexistence agreement allowed AlEn to sell in the United States as long as it did not use certain packaging styles that could infringe Clorox’s designs.
