Harjeet Khanduja
Harjeet Khanduja (born January 16, 1975) is an Indian author, poet and HR professional. He serves as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Reliance Jio.
Early life and education:
He was born in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, to Sardar Kalyan Singh, a poet and professor, and Nirmal Kaur Khanduja, a doctor and social activist. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Technology from IIT Roorkee in 1996, where he started the campus press “Watch Out” and helped establish the FRP Lab. He later earned an MBA from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Sciences in 2005 and attended INSEAD for management studies in 2013.
Career:
He began his career at Tata Motors, implementing Kaizen for continuous improvement. After eight years, he joined Nicholas Piramal to lead HR digital transformation initiatives. In 2009 he moved to the Conjoin Group (now Atos). Since 2012 he has been with Reliance Jio, overseeing HR operations.
Arts and media:
Khanduja is active in Hasya Kavita (humorous poetry). He first appeared on television in 1997 on the poetry game show Hansgola and was crowned Hasya Samrat in 2001. He has appeared on SAB TV’s Wah Wah, Kya Baat Hai! and contributed to Hindi poetry anthologies. In 2020, he received the Vishwa Hindi Jyoti Bhushan Samman.
Writing and books:
He has authored seven books on HR, leadership and business strategy, including Employee Retention Mastermind, Hiring Mastermind, and The Storytelling Leader. He writes for HR magazines such as People Matters and Business Manager, with a regular column titled “The H with HR.”
Personal life:
He is married to Jaspreet Kaur Khanduja, a fashion designer, and they have a son named Amanbeer Singh Khanduja.
