Veules-les-Roses
Veules-les-Roses is a small coastal town in Normandy, northern France. It is a farming and tourist village in the Seine-Maritime department, part of the Pays de Caux. The town sits on the English Channel, about 19 kilometers southwest of Dieppe.
The commune covers about 15 square kilometers and had 510 residents in 2023. The river Veules flows through the village and is the shortest river in France that reaches the sea, at about 1.15 kilometers long. Its water feeds ponds where watercress is grown, and then the river enters the sea through a gap in chalk cliffs beside a sandy and pebble beach.
Veules-les-Roses is recognized as one of France’s most beautiful villages and has long attracted artists and writers. The town is governed by Mayor Yves Tasse (2020–2026). Elevation ranges from 0 to 79 meters.
