João Mamede Filho
João Mamede Filho, O.F.M. Conv., born August 21, 1951, in Caçapava, São Paulo, Brazil, is a Brazilian Roman Catholic bishop who leads the Diocese of Umuarama. He joined the Order of Conventual Friars Minor in 1974 and was ordained a priest on April 21, 1978, by Cláudio Hummes.
He was appointed auxiliary bishop of São Paulo (and titular bishop of Aquae Albae in Mauretania) on April 26, 2006, and was consecrated as a bishop on July 1, 2006, by Cardinal Cláudio Hummes. He served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, responsible for the Lapa region, until 2010.
On November 24, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI named him bishop of Umuarama, and he was installed on February 12, 2011. He also served as apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Maringá from November 20, 2019, to August 15, 2020, appointed by Pope Francis after the resignation of Anuar Battisti.
His episcopal motto is "In the Gospel, the strength of God."
