Velai is a 1998 Tamil film directed by J. Suresh in his first project, with the screenplay by Suresh Balakumaran. It stars Vignesh, Indraja, and Nassar. The film was produced by J. Vasudevan for J. V. Films and released on 26 February 1998. Cinematography is by C. Vijayasri, and editing by B. Lenin and V. T. Vijayan. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Vijay, who did not act in the film, sang one of the songs for Vignesh along with Premji Amaran; Nassar, who acts in the movie, also sang as a playback singer. The Hindu critic D. S. Ramanujam noted that the movie suffers from weaknesses in story and screenplay, despite the director’s efforts.
