"Hoch sei gepriesen unser Gott" (High praise be to our God) is a German Christian hymn written in 1985 by Maria Luise Thurmair. It is a simple paraphrase of the Benedictus, a blessing from the Bible, set to a melody from 1543 composed by Guillaume Franc. The hymn has three stanzas, each eight lines long. It was included in the Catholic hymnal Gotteslob in 2013 as GL 384, in the section Lob, Dank und Anbetung (Praise, thanks and adoration). The melody by Franc is in bar form and rises an octave in the first five notes. Composer Michael Funke wrote a cantata for mixed choir and organ based on the hymn, with all three stanzas set in different ways.
