Company F State Armory
Company F State Armory, also known as the Waltham State Armory, is a historic building in Waltham, Massachusetts at Curtis and Sharon Streets. Built in 1908, it is notable for its Georgian Revival design and for being the city’s only armory. It was one of the last armories in Massachusetts built with a unique, individualized design and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The building is currently vacant.
Architects Hartwell, Richardson & Driver designed it. The two-story main block has a full basement, with a one-story rear extension also in the basement. The facade features a central projecting entry pavilion, a recessed entry in a segmented arch, narrow vertical windows, and a parapet above the roof. The corners have brick quoining.
Inside, the basement housed a firing range, the main floor contained an assembly room and drill hall, and the second floor had offices and a library. It was built by Rufus Lord for $45,000.
