Survivor 42
Survivor 42 is the forty-second season of the American reality competition Survivor. It aired on CBS from March 9 to May 25, 2022. Filmed in Fiji in May–June 2021, the season was shortened to 26 days due to COVID-19, featuring 18 new players split into three tribes: Ika, Taku, and Vati. The merged tribe was named Kula Kula.
The season reused twists from Survivor 41, including the Shot in the Dark and the Beware Advantage, and introduced the Advantage Amulet, which grew stronger as fewer players owned it.
Maryanne Oketch won the title of Sole Survivor, defeating Mike Turner and Romeo Escobar with a jury vote of 7–1–0. She became the second Canadian winner and the second Black woman to win Survivor. The final three were Maryanne, Mike, and Romeo, in a climactic finish built around strategic moves and social play.
Omar Zaheer masterminded early blindsides; Maryanne found an extra vote; the game featured a merge and several vote swings. The season received praise for its cast and storytelling but some critics noted it repeated many twists from the prior season.
