Handwritten Notes
Handwritten Notes is a studio album by guitarist Preston Reed, released on September 19, 2000. It was the first release on Reed's own label, Outer Bridge Records (OB1001). Produced by Reed, the album was recorded at Bobby Schmitzer Studios in Edina, Minnesota, during June and July 2000, and runs 54:44. It sits between Ladies Night (1996) and History of Now (2005) in Reed's discography. All songs are written by Preston Reed.
The record earned positive reviews. Billboard called it "a bible for anyone looking at the extended possibilities of the acoustic guitar." Dirty Linen praised its "blending and bending textures and influences" and said Reed offers "thoughtful and thought-provoking musical vignettes that offer more with each listening." Dave Mead of Guitarist magazine described Reed as "certainly one of the genre's frontrunners... This is an example of true, spellbinding guitar mastery." Minor 7th noted how Reed "skillfully intertwines his trademark raucous slam-bang percussives with reflective and melodious ballads in a way which will heretofore define him as a living guitar legend in his own right." All songs by Preston Reed.
