Víctor Neumann-Lara
Víctor Neumann-Lara (1933–2004) was a Mexican mathematician and a pioneer of graph theory in Mexico. His work also covered topology, game theory, and combinatorics. Born in Huejutla, Hidalgo, he moved to Mexico City and earned a mathematics degree from UNAM. He devoted his life to teaching, giving over 100 courses in Mexico and around the world, and developing new teaching methods. He was a Full Professor at the Institute of Mathematics, UNAM, directed more than 15 theses, and taught at both the Institute and the Faculty of Sciences. His publications are widely cited in graph theory. In 1982 he introduced the dichromatic number of a directed graph, a concept used in kernel theory and tournament theory.
