Umar Farooq Ahmed
Umar Farooq Ahmed, born 4 January 1979, is a former Danish cricketer. He was a slow left‑arm orthodox bowler who also batted.
Youth career:
- Played for Denmark’s under-19 team in 1995, 1997, and 1998.
- Made his Youth One Day International debut in the 1998 Under-19 World Cup against Ireland U‑19, and played five more YODIs in the tournament, the last vs Namibia U‑19.
Senior career:
- Made his Denmark senior debut in 2002 in a friendly against the Marylebone Cricket Club, and played four European Championship matches that year.
- His only List A match came in the 2004 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy (played in 2003) against Wales Minor Counties. The match was at Pen-y-Pound, Abergavenny: Denmark scored 189/8 in 50 overs, Farooq scoring 12 before being dismissed by Matthew Mason. He bowled 10 overs for 24 runs without taking a wicket as Wales Minor Counties won by 7 wickets.
- His final Denmark appearances were two matches against Ireland in September 2003.
