Train Without a Timetable

Train Without a Timetable (Vlak bez voznog reda) is a 1959 Yugoslav drama directed by Veljko Bulajić. The film stars Stole Aranđelović and tells the story of people who are forced to leave their ancestral homes to move to new, undeveloped farmland. It is Bulajić’s feature debut and helped him win several awards. The crew includes Kreso Grcevic (cinematography) and Blazenka Jencik (editing). It runs 121 minutes and is in Serbo-Croatian. It was produced in the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.

The film was shown at the 1959 Cannes Film Festival and was Yugoslavia’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 32nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The movie achieved major success at home, earning Bulajić four awards at the Yugoslav National Film Awards (Pula), an award from the city of Zagreb, and the best debut film award at Cannes.
