1982 New Year Honours

The 1982 New Year Honours, announced by Queen Elizabeth II, recognized people in many Commonwealth countries for their good work, with some honorary awards for others. The list was published in The London Gazette on 31 December 1981 to mark the end of 1981 and the start of 1982. Recipients are shown as they were styled before the honour and are organized by order, then by class (such as Knight, Knight Grand Cross) and division (Military or Civil). At that time the two lowest Royal Victorian Order classes were Member (fourth class) and Member (fifth class) with post-nominal MVO; from the 1985 honours, the fourth class was renamed Lieutenant (LVO).
