Too Gone Too Long is a 1987 country song by Randy Travis from the album Always & Forever. Written by Gene Pistilli and produced by Kyle Lehning, it was released in November 1987 as the album’s third single. The song reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, giving Travis his fifth US number-one hit, and also topped Canada’s RPM country chart. The lyrics tell how a former lover returns after a long absence, but the narrator has moved on and can’t rekindle the relationship. It was the top country song for the week of March 12, 1988. The single’s B-side was “My House,” and it was released by Warner Bros. Nashville.
