Barenton is a small town in northwestern France. It’s a commune in the Manche department of the Normandy region. The area covers about 134.9 square kilometers and has around 1,161 residents as of 2023. The town sits between 88 and 297 meters above sea level, giving it some gentle hills. The population density is about 33 people per square kilometer.

Barenton is part of the Avranches arrondissement and the Le Mortainais canton, and it belongs to the CA Mont-Saint-Michel-Normandie intercommunality. The mayor for 2020–2026 is Stéphane Lelièvre. The postal code is 50720 and the INSEE code is 50029. The area observes Central European Time (UTC+1) and daylight saving time (UTC+2) in summer.
