Castles in Syria

Syria has many ancient forts and castles built over centuries by different peoples. They often sit on hills or along important routes to defend cities and protect trade. These stone buildings reflect the work of Crusaders, Arab rulers, and Ottoman powers. Today, many of these castles are famous sights that help people learn about Syria’s long history.

Notable castles
