Matan Roditi
Matan Roditi (born 6 October 1998) is an Israeli Olympic marathon swimmer from Herzliya. He holds Israeli records in the 800-meter freestyle, the 1500-meter freestyle, and the 10-kilometer open-water race. He swims for Bnei Herzliya and is coached by Amir Ofer.
Roditi learned to swim as a child after an early fear of water, joined Bnei Herzliya at age 7, and trained hard, eventually swimming 70-80 kilometers a week. He studied computer science at Reichman University after attending Ben Gurion Middle School and Yuval High School in Herzliya.
In the Olympics, Roditi finished 4th in the men’s 10-kilometer marathon at Tokyo 2020 (held in 2021), the best near-miss for Israel in swimming. He later finished 16th in the same event at Paris 2024. He has won national titles and set records, including a 2019 South African Open Water 10km title. He also placed 10th in the 10km at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, earning a spot for Paris after a tough year that included an ankle injury. Roditi continues to compete for Israel with the aim of future Olympic success.
