Tim Watters
Tim Watters, born July 25, 1959 in Kamloops, British Columbia, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. At 5 ft 11 in and 180 lb, he shoots left and played in the NHL from 1981 to 1995 for the Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings. Drafted 124th overall in 1979 by the Jets, Watters appeared in over 700 NHL games. He was a physical defender who relied on smart positioning, shot-blocking, stick work, and hip checks. He also represented Canada, playing in two Olympic Games and at the 1983 World Championships in West Germany.
After retiring as a player in 1995, Watters served as an assistant coach for the Boston Bruins in the 1995–96 season. He then became the head coach of Michigan Tech Huskies from 1996 to 2000, finishing with a college coaching record of 39–116–9. He studied and played college hockey at Michigan Tech University.
Watters later settled in Phoenix, Arizona, where he works in commercial real estate and coaches youth hockey in Tempe.
