Moscow Small Ring Road
Moscow Small Ring Road, designated A107, is a 347 km (216 mi) federal highway in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It passes through Noginsk, Elektrostal, Bronnitsy, Domodedovo, Selyatino, Zvenigorod, Chernogolovka and Sofrino, and partly goes through New Moscow (Troitsky Administrative Okrug).
The road was built in the 1950s–60s along with the Moscow Big Ring to support military transport for Moscow’s air defenses. Some people say it was built with large concrete slabs laid in layers that could withstand heavy missiles; the slabs are about 4–5 meters wide and 15–25 cm thick.
Until about 1990 it wasn’t shown on maps. After that, locals knew about it and both rings became public roads, first in practice and later by law. The slabs were later covered with asphalt, but many still call it the “concrete ring.”
In 2016, construction began on the Central Ring Road toll road, especially through Malaya Betonka.
