Throwback Thursday
Throwback Thursday, or #TBT, is an internet trend on social media like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. On Thursdays, people post nostalgic photos from the past and tag them with #TBT or #ThrowbackThursday. Posts usually show happy memories, funny old clothes or hairstyles, or any moment that feels nostalgic. A photo from any past time—childhood, old relationships, vacations, old songs, or anything that brings a warm, nostalgic feeling—fits.
The idea started in different places. The earliest Instagram post with the hashtag came from user @bobbysander22. The term is often linked to a sneaker blog called Nice Kicks, which began posting “Throwback Thursday” photos in 2006. Since then, #TBT has become huge on Instagram, with hundreds of millions of uses. Kim Kardashian and her family helped spread it in 2012.
There’s a similar trend on Mondays called #MondayMotivation, where people share positive messages to start the week.
Flashback Friday is another nostalgia trend, posted on Fridays with #flashbackfriday or #fbf. It gives people a second chance to share vintage photos or to post more nostalgic content.
