Thrillopolis
Thrillopolis was a planned amusement park from Themeparks LLC in the early 2000s. It was announced in 2002 and was expected to open in 2005. The original plan placed an 82-acre site near Adelphia Coliseum in Nashville, Tennessee, but local officials questioned the idea of using public money to fund the project. Themeparks proposed a public-private financing deal, asking for about $127 million in public funding backed by a $100 million line of credit. Because of the opposition, the Nashville site was abandoned.
In June 2002, Themeparks said it would look for other locations in Nashville-Davidson County or the broader Middle Tennessee region. By September 2002, Wilson County officials confirmed they were evaluating sites there, and Themeparks signed an exclusivity agreement with Wilson County in October 2002 to study a potential park. Hart, the company’s CEO, suggested a smaller version might work, starting with a water park and later adding rides. However, Thrillopolis was canceled around 2004–05, and Themeparks later reflected that the project did not come together.
Themeparks LLC, which also operated Magic Springs in Arkansas and had sold Kentucky Kingdom in 1997, had hoped to bring a major theme park back to the Nashville area, but the plans never materialized.
