Thierry Mauvignier
Biography
Thierry Mauvignier is a French director and documentary filmmaker, born in 1965 near Tours, France. He grew up with two brothers, Laurent Mauvignier (a writer) and Frédéric Mauvignier (a director), as well as sisters. From a young age he loved cinema, even making his own cardboard projectors and slides. He studied audiovisual technology and earned a BTS Audiovisuel. In 1997 he directed his first short film, L’heure c’est l’heure, with his nephews and nieces acting. He then made several short films and documentaries, often working with sound engineer Michel Duponteil. He also writes books for young people and works as a videographer. In 2021 he directed a short film about a Poitevin legend, The Legend of the Murderous Lords, which he revisits with his brother Laurent Mauvignier; this short appears in the documentary La légende de Thierry Mauvignier directed by Dylan Besseau.
