Theobald Butler, 1st Viscount Butler of Tulleophelim
Theobald Butler, 1st Viscount Butler of Tulleophelim (died in 1613) was an Irish noble. He was the son of Sir Edmund Butler of Cloughgrenan and Eleanor Eustace, daughter of Rowland Eustace, 2nd Viscount Baltinglass. His grandfather was James Butler, 9th Earl of Ormonde, and his younger brother was Sir Thomas Butler, 1st Baronet, of Cloughgrenan. Theobald was made Viscount Butler of Tulleophelim in the Irish peerage on 4 August 1603, and in 1605 he became Governor of County Carlow. He married his first cousin Elizabeth Butler, daughter of Thomas Butler, 10th Earl of Ormond, in 1603; they had no children. When he died in 1613, the viscountcy became extinct. Elizabeth, the dowager Viscountess Butler of Tulleophelim, later married Richard Preston, 1st Earl of Desmond, and died in 1628.
