Thedavur
Thedavur is a small town in the Gangavalli taluk of Salem district in Tamil Nadu, India. It covers about 8 square kilometers and had a population of 8,230 in 2011, living in 2,241 households. The town is located about 75 kilometers from the district capital Salem and is divided into 15 wards, headed by a chairperson elected by residents.
Thedavur is part of the Gangavalli Assembly constituency and the Kallakurichi Lok Sabha constituency. In 2011, there were 4,158 men and 4,072 women, with 932 children below six years old. About 12% of residents belong to Scheduled Castes. The town is classified as urban, with an average literacy rate of 69.8%. About 49.6% of those eligible for work were employed, mostly in farming and related activities. The population is predominantly Hindu (about 99%), with small communities of Christians and Muslims.
