The New Beginning in Hiroshima (2021) was a two-night pro-wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). It took place on February 10–11, 2021 at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall in Hiroshima, Japan. Night 1 drew 1,135 fans and Night 2 drew 2,007. This was the 31st The New Beginning show and the second time it was held in Hiroshima (the previous one was in 2014). A total of 13 matches took place over the two days.
Main events:
- Night 1: Hiromu Takahashi defended the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Sho. Guerrillas of Destiny defended the IWGP Tag Team Championship against Dangerous Tekkers.
- Night 2: Kota Ibushi challenged Sanada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and the IWGP Intercontinental Championship in a bid to unify the belts.
Background:
- NJPW has been operating with limited arena capacity due to COVID-19, and The New Beginning in Hiroshima was the first major show after the January 4 Tokyo Dome Show.
- Sho earned his first shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship after Takahashi nominated him following Wrestle Kingdom 15, where Takahashi won the title. Sho had long been part of the tag team Roppongi 3K with Yoh and Rocky Romero. On the second night, Ibushi and Sanada’s title matchup was set as part of ongoing storylines surrounding the unification of the top titles.
