Baidyanath Village
Baidyanath is a village and an archaeological site in Kaimur district, Bihar, India. It lies in the district’s northeast, about 6 miles south of Ramgarh (formerly part of Bhabua subdivision). The place is known for a temple built from ancient remains and for its links to the Pala dynasty. People believe Baidyanath was part of the ancient Savar kingdom. The area is full of old buildings and ruins. The main feature is a modern Shaivite temple on a large mound. In 1882, digging on the mound uncovered the remains of a much older temple. The current temple is unusual: it is made entirely from materials from the old shrine, a mix of carved stones and fragments. The mound itself is said to be made of these ancient pieces. A key find is an inscription of King Madanapala, a ruler of the Pala dynasty, dating the site's importance to the Pala era. Nearby are carved obelisks and pillars, showing the area's archaeological value.
