Calamaria boesemani
Calamaria boesemani, also known as Boeseman's reed snake, is a small forest snake in the Colubridae family. It is found only on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi (endemic). The IUCN lists its conservation status as Data Deficient, meaning there isn’t enough information to know if it’s at risk.
Taxonomy and name: It belongs to genus Calamaria, subfamily Calamariinae. The species name boesemani honors Dutch scientist Marinus Boeseman.
Description: It has relatively large eyes for its genus. The mental scale on its chin does not touch the front chin shields.
Habitat and behavior: It lives on the forest floor and is semifossorial, spending time under leaf litter or soil.
Reproduction: It lays eggs (oviparous).
