The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse
The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse is a 2005 British-Irish disaster horror comedy based on the TV show The League of Gentlemen. It was directed by Steve Bendelack in his feature debut and written by Jeremy Dyson, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith. The film stars Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith (reprising their TV roles) with guest performances from Michael Sheen, Victoria Wood, Peter Kay, Simon Pegg and others.
Plot in simple terms:
The Royston Vasey crew step into the real world to meet their creators as their town faces an apocalyptic threat. A series of events involving a prison escape, a new script called The King’s Evil, and a monster created from the writers’ world leads to clashes between the characters and their makers. Although it seems the apocalypse will destroy Royston Vasey, the town survives and gains back free will. A mid-credits scene hints that Dyson is alive but in a coma, and a tail-spreading event affects the rest of the world.
