Morada (company)
Morada Home Limited is a private textile company based in Altham, Lancashire, England. It is known for Morada fabrics and curtains, including Morada Home and Morada Curtains and Accessories.
The company traces its roots to 1876 in London, where B. Cohen & Co. sold tailor’s trimmings. They helped popularize synthetic fabrics like viscose (rayon) for linings, and Morada became a leading brand of lining fabrics used in garments around the world. Over the years the business moved and grew, eventually becoming part of a series of mergers and acquisitions.
In the late 20th century, Morada became part of Carrington Viyella and later Coats Viyella through a string of corporate changes. In the late 1990s, the current management bought the business, and in 2005 EPIC Private Equity funded efforts to re-establish Morada as a fabric brand. Today, Morada focuses on fabric and home textiles, especially curtains.
