The Green Temptation (1922)

The Green Temptation is a 1922 American silent melodrama directed by William Desmond Taylor and starring Betty Compson. The screenplay was written by Julia Crawford Ivers and Monte Katterjohn, based on the short story "The Noose" by Constance Lindsay Skinner.

Plot
A girl from Paris, once involved in the criminal underworld, serves as a Red Cross nurse during World War I. After the war she moves to America to start fresh. There she meets an old wartime associate, a criminal who plans to steal a precious jewel called “The Green Temptation.” He pressures her to help, but she refuses and he threatens to reveal her past to her new friends. A Scotland Yard detective, who is likely protecting the jewel and is fond of Betty, confronts Kosloff and kills him as he tries to steal it.

Release and status
The film was released by Paramount Pictures and runs about 60 minutes (six reels). It is a silent film with English intertitles and is now considered lost.
