Drassodella guttata
Drassodella guttata, also known as the Platberg long-jawed ground spider, is a small spider in the Gallieniellidae family. It was described in 2019 by Mbo & Haddad and is found only in South Africa. So far, it has been recorded only in Platberg Nature Reserve in the Free State, at about 2188 meters above sea level. It lives under rocks on the mountain slope in alpine grassland, and both males and females have been observed. The spider has white spots on its abdomen. It is listed as Data Deficient, meaning scientists need more information about its distribution and population. It is protected in Platberg Nature Reserve, but more surveying is needed to understand its range.
