The Gate House
The Gate House is a 2008 thriller novel by Nelson DeMille and the sequel to The Gold Coast. After his aristocratic wife killed her Mafia don lover, John Sutter left America and spent three years sailing around the world, eventually settling in London.
Ten years later, he returns to the Gold Coast on Long Island to attend the funeral of an old family servant. He stays in the gatehouse of Stanhope Hall, living close to his ex-wife Susan. The past resurfaces when the son of Susan’s former lover, the late Mafia boss Frank Bellarosa, is revealed to be alive. Anthony Bellarosa wants two things: to pull John back into the Bellarosa crime world and to exact revenge on Susan, who he blames for his father’s death.
As John and Susan’s old attraction reignites, they become drawn deeper into a web of seduction and betrayal. The story returns to the North Shore’s world of wealth and power, where past and present collide.
