The Feeling of Falling Upwards
The Feeling of Falling Upwards (Live from the Royal Albert Hall) is the third live album by Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. It was released digitally on 14 April 2023 by 5SOS LLC and BMG and features 17 tracks recorded during a special one-night concert at Royal Albert Hall in London on 22 September 2022. The show was performed with a 12-piece string orchestra and a 12-member gospel choir and was live-streamed the day before the band released their fifth studio album, 5SOS5.
During the performance, Ashton Irwin explained that the title describes the feeling of taking a leap of faith in music and sharing the journey with fans year after year.
Critics welcomed the release. Amrit Virdi of Clash called it a musical journey through the band’s 12-year discography, praising the production and the added elements of the House Gospel Choir and the string ensemble. The review notes that this live album stands out from their previous releases and showcases how much the band has grown.
The album was released digitally on 14 April 2023 and was scheduled for a physical release on 14 July 2023.
