Sørnes is a village in Sola municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It sits at the southeast end of Hafrsfjorden, about 10 kilometers southwest of Stavanger, and is part of the Stavanger/Sandnes metropolitan area. The village lies just west of the E39 highway and a short distance north of Solakrossen. Many residents commute to work in Stavanger. The name comes from the old Sørnes farm: Suðrnes in Old Norse, with suðr meaning “southern” and nes meaning “headland.”
