The English Marriage
The English Marriage (Die Englische Heirat) is a 1934 German comedy directed by Reinhold Schünzel and starring Renate Müller, Anton Walbrook, and Adele Sandrock. It is based on a novel of the same name by Ludwig von Wohl, who also wrote the screenplay. The film’s sets were designed by art director Otto Hunte. Location filming took place at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport and on Heligoland. It was produced by Cine-Allianz. The plot follows a young German woman engaged to a British aristocrat who must win over his hostile family. Several of those involved, including the director and star Anton Walbrook, left Nazi Germany soon after due to their Jewish backgrounds.
