The Eilan
The Eilan, also known as Eilean Bheannchair or An t'Eilean in Scottish Gaelic, is a shinty ground near the village of Newtonmore in the Highlands of Scotland. It is the home of Newtonmore Camanachd Club and has hosted shinty since 1877. The ground is about 0.8 km southeast of Newtonmore town centre, just north of where the River Calder and the River Spey meet. The B9150 road runs to the east; this area used to be part of the A9 route before Newtonmore and Kingussie were bypassed in the 1970s. The Eilan was redeveloped in 1993 and a new clubhouse was built. It has hosted junior finals, including the Sutherland Cup finals in 2010 and 2014, and has hosted the Newtonmore Highland Games since 1950. Coordinates: 57°03′29″N 4°07′55″W.
