Actionstep
Actionstep is a cloud-based software that helps law firms and compliance-focused businesses manage their practice. It was founded in 2004 in Auckland, New Zealand by Ted Jordan, who serves as CEO. The software first saw commercial use in 2005 by a New Zealand construction franchise and a law firm, then expanded to central government and other small businesses mainly in New Zealand and Australia. Over time, Actionstep added more legal-focused features and grew to four global offices, with its headquarters in Auckland and offices in the United Kingdom and the United States.
In October 2020, Serent Capital Partners bought 84.25% of Actionstep. In April 2022, the company announced unlimited annual leave for staff. Actionstep is designed to be customizable to a company’s workflow without extra coding, and its cloud basis allows continuous updates. It also integrates with many other tools, including Xero, Microsoft Office & Office 365, Gmail, Google Drive, Dropbox, QuickBooks, LawPay, Zapier and more.
The software includes workflow automation features such as automatic task assignment, document generation and automation, cataloguing, and matter creation. Actionstep has earned recognition such as the 2009 Best of SaaS Showplace Award, and has been a finalist for the ComputerWorld Excellence Awards (2007) and the Vero Excellence in Business Support (2010).
